Santa María de Vilanova de la Barca is designed by @AleaOlea and is located in Spain.
This beautiful building is a 13th Century Gothic church, which was reduced to a state of ruins after the mid 20th Century civil war. The aim of the project was to restore and stabilize the front facade and retain as much of the original elements as possible, whereas the interiors there was more freedom. The new design retains the characteristic pointed gothic arches and the spectacular volume which comes with designs of that time, newer additions are easily noticeable and enhance the quality of light flooding in. It is a classic example of where the new and old can co-exist and do so respectfully. Beautifully balanced and well executed.
