On behalf of Matt Snell, thank you to Alberta Magazine Publishers Association for the SILVER AWARD. Matthew would have been very honoured and humbled to be among the other finalists here, especially Paul Zizka, whom Matt was inspired by right from the start of his new found photography obsession. Matthew purchased his first DSLR camera in 2014 when he found himself in awe of the beauty of Alberta landscapes. Photography quickly became Matthews passion and he was always learning new techniques, improving the creativity and quality of his images. The Summit Aurora was captured in May 2017 and in Matts own words “ I was blessed with the most magical and unforgettable experience. Right at the moment of reaching the summit of EEOR the sky absolutely exploded with colour and dancing Aurora in all directions. One of the rare times that a photograph exactly captures what we were seeing and experiencing. We were absolutely amazed and in awe and it almost felt as though we could touch the sky” This night would become the strongest showing of the Northern Lights over the Bow Valley in a decade.
Moments like this are what led Matt to his dedication and passion for landscape photography. His goal and dream was to pursue this passion full time. Again thank you so much for your recognition of Matt Snell’s photography.
Thank you to Meghan Ward of Crowfoot Media for accepting Matts award 🥈 on our behalf.
