I'd just lost a couple games of snooker on the roof of one of the many buildings in Commercial Market. It was saddening, I realized snooker was a much more difficult game than Pool, only because the table was much, much bigger than what I was used to in Pool.
I was a tad bit annoyed and reached for patience. Yes, I'm a pretty competitive person when it comes to sports/games.
Smoke hung in the air as groups of friends chatted in the room and puffed their cigarettes now and again. I felt sick so I left for some fresh air.
Outside sat two ping-pong tables, unattended, and farther back lay some charpai, woven beds, by the edge of the roof and groups of friends bantering away with hot cups of chai in hand.
All I could hear were horns sounding from down below as I made my way to lean against the railing. Looking down, women and kids were exploring the markets and rickshaw drivers taking a break and chatting with one another.
Motorcycles weaved through the on again/off again traffic and there I was, having been on this road what feels like a lifetime ago, renewing old forgotten memories with new ones, with eyes that were seeing a completely different world.
I missed my piano, laughing at the thought. And then I remembered the snow, the cold, the grey, and decided to look on and enjoy the late-November warmth while I had it.
There were probably, at this time, owners closing their shops for the night all over the humming city. Folks at home lighting matches and hovering them close to gas-ready heaters, watching the soft puff of a flame, and welcoming the orange heat.
Children and trans-people flurried through the streets going from one car to another, one group to another, worried about trying to make it to the next day, month, and year.
There was a dark patch of houses ahead of me, a minaret peaking out from behind them. You could tell the lights were being conserved or on a generator in that area. I've a lot more written but I'm at that awkward moment, once again, where I've reached the Instagram caption lim-
