Have you ever wondered what a national park would have looked like a few hundred years ago? Before the colonial pressures, introduction of rifle hunting and dispossession of local communities? Well @zakouma_national_park is probably one of the closest things to this idea. This is the Rigueik pan and wetland system and it represents an oasis during the dry season for species such as hartebeest, kordofan giraffe, buffalo, lion, elephant and small duikers. It is a Ramsar site which means that it is significant as a wetland for several species of birds. The second video shot by my cameraman @alexbraczkowski shows hundreds of spur-winged geese and comb ducks at the wetland in the last light of the setting sun. @zakouma_national_park is nearly 1200 square miles in size and is located in southeastern Chad, on the border of the Guera and Salamat regions. Follow @africanparksnetwork to find out more about how you could visit this incredible park 🦁🐆
